9:00am - VIDEO DIRECTOR ARRIVES

1. Power up equipment

  • Do any of the cameras need to be moved? (look for people blocking shots)
  • Power on cameras
  • Power on Rack in Broadcast Room,
  • Manually switch on talkback channels on the Talkback Converter (all bottom buttons green)
  • Make sure streaming PC is powered on
  • Make sure Multi-Views are live with all cameras & PC feeds visible - troubleshoot if not
  • Power on campus displays & check they are working
    • Kitchen
    • Foyer (x3) - remote near the sound desk
    • Cry Room
    • Backstage (x3) - Left Wing, Right Wing, Backstage
    • Prayer Room (HDMI 1)
    • Auditorium (in front of Cam2)

2. Setup live stream on YouTube

We use the same stream settings in VMix for YouTube each week

  • Setup the Live Stream in YouTube - follow the YouTube setup standards
  • Go to https://studio.youtube.com/
  • Go to Content > Live
  • Select 'Create' (Top Right with video Camera image)
  • Select 'Go Live'
  • Select 'Schedule Stream' (Top Right)
  • Select "Re-Use Settings" (Regardless if a new theme or not, it will still save time inputting content)
  • Update
    • Title: Change to current theme + speaker.
    • Description: Should be auto filled - if not copy from a previous stream.
    • Thumbnail: Update if new theme, can be found in https://www.canva.com/ Each theme has its own set of graphics. Download the facebook version.
    • Click Next, No changes on the next page too, so Next again
    • Set Date and Time (10:15am for a 10:30am service start)
    • Click DONE

3. Setup live stream on Facebook & in VMix (Streaming PC)

Facebook has a new feed setup each week, which then needs to be selected in VMix

  • Visit https://www.facebook.com/live/producer
    • Select 'Schedule Live Video' from the top rectangle section ("Plan ahead by scheduling a live video...." is the description)
    • Event Name: Same as Youtube Format
    • Description: Same as Youtube content
    • Time & Date: 10:15 am for a 10:30 am Start
    • Cover Image: Select Edit and Choose image (Seems to be defaulting to generic BBC - If an on-going theme, image should on desktop - otherwise find in canva)
    • Un-Tick "create live video ad" and click Save.
    • Up-Coming Live Videos - You Schedule should show now with a "GO LIVE" option
      • Select 'GO LIVE' to go into the event.
      • Note: You need to complete the three elements Connect Video Source, Complete Post Details, Go Live;
  • 1. Connect Video Source:
    • In the 'Select a Video Source' under the blank/black preview in the middle. Select 'Streaming Software' + Copy the Stream Key to VMix. In VMix select the "Settings Cog" from the Stream Option. Paste the steam key in and click 'Save and Close' (It defaults to the Facebook tab)
      • Note: Nothing will change in Facebook until you actually go live, so just proceed to clicking the next option;
  • 2. Click Complete Post Details
    • 'Add post details' should highlight on the right under the video perview
    • Click 'Whats your live video about?' and in the popup: Copy + Past in the Title + Details as per above + Youtube
  • 3. Go Live - 10:15am (cant do it earler)
    • In VMIX - Click Stream to go live on FB + YT
    • In Facebook - Click / toggle 'Go live automatically at scheduled start time' on the left (just above the final 'save changes') - Not sure if this changes anything - it ignored this for me (PG)
    • Click save changes / Go-Live
    • Note: If done right it will re-load the current page confirming you are now live.
    • Note: If you click 'Save' and the page disappears - To get back - Click Facebook menu top right (9 dots), click events. Then select go live for the scheduled event. You will notice everything on the event is blank again, and you will need to re-peat these. It needs the actual live video feed to enable you to go live.

4. Remote load camera settings

  • Start the Atem software control app on the streaming PC
  • Choose “File” | “Restore”
  • Select the most recent “Atem Sunday Service…” settings file and restore all settings
  • Look up order of service, and upload lower 3rds for speakers to the media slots
  • confirm Macros & keys all working

NOTE: If VMix does not show the program once the cameras are setup and running;

  • Go to the lower 2 inset screens and select the settings cog at the bottom right inset screen.
  • Once the settings dialog is open, click on "Change"
  • Then (top right of the box) now in the "Camera" section choose "Decklink Mini Recorder 4k"
  • Then click "OK"

9:30am - CAM OPS ARRIVE

5. Video Team Meeting & Setup

  • Gather the team
  • Pray together
  • Allocate team members to cameras / roles
  • Run through the service format together
  • Get ops to go to their cameras, confirm they're working and check comms

10:15am - LIVE STREAM COMMENCES

6. Start & Check the live streams (15m before service)

  • Check mic's are muted with the BC Sound operator, and music is ready
  • click Start in vMix to start the stream.
  • Log into Facebook with your phone, and check the stream is working
  • Log into YouTube with your phone, and check the stream is working

10:27am - SERVICE START

7. Start & direct the service

  • Operators at cameras - quick check in
  • Get opening shots ready
  • Switch on Lower 3rds keying
  • Start Recording in VMix
  • 10:30am switch from slides to live
  • Direct the service

~11:30-12PM - SERVICE ENDS

8. Thank the team

  • Switch the service from live to the ending slides
  • Thank the camera operators
    • If you can, mention something each did particularly well during the service
  • Ask the camera operators to shut down their cameras, and pack them up

9. Stop the streams

  • 2-5mins after the service ends:
    • Stop Recording in VMix
    • Stop the Stream in VMix
    • Manually end the stream in YouTube Studio
    • Manually end the stream in Facebook

10. Create the Podcast audio file

  • Find today’s video recording (will be on MEDIA D: drive, has the date in the filename)
  • Open Sony Movie Studio platinum
  • Load today’s capture
  • Trim the file to just the Sermon (can include bible reading)
  • Select the whole remaining clip and normalise the Audio (right click on clip, > switches > normalise)
  • Select - Project - Render As - Export Audio for Podcast - Save into the BBC Archive Sermons file share (shortcut on the Desktop) for Jenny to upload (filename is date and who is speaking + topic) - NB: we do not use the Google Drive for these any more

11. Shutdown the back-end systems

  • Power down Broadcast room rack and desk
  • Put on dust covers
  • TIDY UP AFTER YOURSELF
    • Rubbish in bins
    • OOS in bin
    • empty bins if needed, esp if coffee cups & food
  • Power down campus screens
    • Kitchen
    • Foyer (x3)
    • Cry Room
    • Backstage (x3) - Left Wing, Right Wing, Backstage
    • Prayer Room (HDMI 1)
    • Auditorium (in front of Cam2)

12. Trim the saved livestream videos

  • Trim the countdown slides at the start of the YouTube video
  • Add the YouTube video to the playlist
  • Trim the countdown slides at the start of the Facebook video
